The Lafayette Safe Spot, Skate Spot will be completed by late February 2009. Safe Spot, Skate Spot is a program developed by The Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation to support legal and safe skate spots for communities interested in developing legal skateable terrain for their skateboarders. Based from the skate plaza concept, the Safe Spot, Skate Spot program will provide an alternative option for communities with limited budgets or space restrictions to develop real street skating locations. The Lafayette Safe Spot, Skate Spot was developed in partnership with Newline Skate Parks and California Skate Parks. At just over 7,000 square feet of skateable terrain the spot will contain ledges, benches and stairs that flow through the park’s natural landscape. Funding from a generous donation by CKE Restaurants, Inc., parent company of the Carl’s Jr.® hamburger chain, to the Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation secured the development of the Lafayette skate spot. “I’m excited to see the first Safe Spot Skate Spot come to life,” said Rob Dyrdek, the Foundation’s Founder and Director. “We realized that cities want to help their skateboarders but are often lacking funds or space. This concept provides the perfect solution for both. Skateboarding has always been defined by great spots and I hope that we are on our way to creating the next great, legal spots for skateboarding.” The Rob Dyrdek/DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation seeks to promote the sport of skateboarding by assisting municipalities with the design, development and construction of locations that maintain the integrity of terrain occurring naturally in urban environments, and where the sport of skateboarding in its purest form is encouraged rather than discouraged.

For skating competitions and events, be sure to visit www.teammomndad.com

The Biggest Sponsor in The World!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 229px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_6Gq8k_mjDys/SYTFdvBUMkI/AAAAAAAAAAo/jVa-fu6JwL0/s320/Small+logo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5297576176323408450" />
FINALLY! Finally there is a company out there selling something that kids AND THEIR PARENTS can wear. Cool stuff that brings parents and their kids together.

Teammomndad was created as a feel good company where parents can show everyone that they support their children by wearing a Teammomndad shirt, hat, or sweatshirt in whatever sport they participate. And kids can let everyone know and be proud to show that their parents support them in whatever they do. Kids can rock cool t-shirts, hoodies, hats or just by simply plastering a Teammomndad sticker on their car, board, or wherever they want people to notice it.

Teammomndad goes much further then just sports. Parents around the world pay for their kids’ schooling, buy them their first car, help co-sign a loan, pay for trips, weddings, etc. The list is endless. When a parent puts their kid into Kindergarten, I have never heard of the child paying for their own Kindergarten classes. Have you? Probably not, chances are that the parents are paying for it.

You turn 16 and want to buy your first car but don’t have enough money. If they can, your parents help pitch in to help buy your first set of wheels? .

When a young lady gets married, doesn’t the family of the bride usually pay for the majority of the wedding? Typically yes.

So it’s time to move out and find your own place to live. You have average credit and not a whole lot of money so you need someone to co-sign a loan to buy a house or rent an apartment. I know my parents would step in and co-sign the loan for me. Would yours? Most likely the answer is yes.

www.teammomndad.com was recently launched although it has been in the works for almost two years. The truth is Moms and Dads are the biggest sponsors in the world. Moms and Dads spend more money and sponsor more athletes then all the other conglomerates combined! And Teammomndad, the company, is now there for everyone to show it.

A lot of things they do don’t cost money, either. Whether it’s sitting in the stands to watch you play high school basketball or standing in the cold at the hill to take pictures and watch you have some fun. Whatever it is, your parents are willing to support you because their support will help you succeed and be the best that you can be. Every parent wants their kids to succeed and have fun.

Teammomndad is an ongoing process and will never stop growing. We want parents to always show their support and we want their kids to be proud to show everyone they are supported by their parents. No kids are ashamed to have their parents cheering them on or paying for their first car. But kids do want to separate themselves from their parents ever so slightly. That is why our separate lines of apparel have something cool for the kids and the parents.

Parents, continue supporting your kids because no matter what, they will appreciate everything.

Kids, let everyone know who supports you and your parents will be grateful you do.

www.teammomndad.com

Team Mom N Dad Company

Hey… thanks, Mom and Dad!

It’s boarding season and you’ve got all your sponsors lined up to outfit you with boots, bindings, goggles, the works, right? You don’t? You mean Burton and the boys haven’t dialed you in yet? Fear not, you are not alone. Ninety nine percent of us shredders are footing the bill ourselves, or are we?

The more I thought about it and the more I looked at it, I realized we ALL have sponsors! It’s our parents, or it was... or for some of you just getting started, it will be.

My name is Brandon Bennett, and I’ve been shredding as an avid snowboarder for over half of my 24 years on the third rock from the sun. My brother and I, Chad, grew up in the small town of Slinger, WI and lived just down the street from Little Switzerland, the local ski resort. Not even close to being a mountain, it was more like a big hill. But it had 14 runs and an area devoted to boarders that we affectionately called, “The Park,” where we competed and made the best of it. From there we went on to building homemade rails to grind in a friends’ backyard. When there wasn’t enough snow at the hill, everyone piled into our pickup trucks and went to parking lots, driveways or wherever and shoveled as much snow as we could into the trucks. Then we’d haul it to our backyard, build a jump or a mini half-pipe. Alright, it was more like an eighth of a pipe, but we had a blast.

But that didn’t cost us anything. It was the equipment! So for Christmas, St. Nicks day, birthdays and any other holiday we could come up with we asked our parents for snowboarding gear. And our parents always came through. Maybe it wasn’t the best stuff out there but it certainly got us down the hills.

Fast forward to my college years at Winona State University where two or three times a week I made the two-hour commute from Winona to Bloomington, MN at 5:30 in the morning, to coach the kids’ freestyle for the G-Team. I became the president of the snowboarding club at Winona and was also a coach for the Midwest Best Snowboarding team.

For many of you who have been to local or National events, you have heard the announcers introduce the competitors and any sponsor(s) they may be associated with. But honestly, not too many have sponsors, other than, “you-know-who.” While attending the Nationals in 2007 in Tahoe, one of the kickin’ announcers said a line that really connected with me. He bellowed into the mic, “And now coming down the slope, competitor number 147, Joe Somebody, from Kewaskum, Wisconsin, sponsored by, TEAM MOM AND DAD!”

Right then it struck me! Teammomndad.com. What better way for all of us to say thanks to the people who make it all possible out for us to cut it up on the slopes not only in our towns, but around the country and ultimately the world.

So my brother Chad and I started Teammomndad. We’ve got a slammin’ website with shirts, hats, sweatshirts and other cool stuff available. Want to buy something really special for your parents for Christmas? All right Christmas is already over but you could still buy them something! How about a cool Teammomndad logo’d sweatshirt, t-shirt, or polo shirt?

And when your parents continue to pay for your gear and competition entry fees you might want to make the effort to let everyone else know that they are the ones making it all possible. For that reason, we are also designing out-a-sight hooded sweatshirts with your TMND logo on the back for you to wear while doing what you love to do.

What better way to say thanks then wearing a Teammomndad sweatshirt and cap? How about plastering our super bad Teammomndad stickers on your helmets and boards? We all know who the real sponsors are, and now everyone else will too.

Every one of us would love to get sponsored. But the reality is, unless you are the next Shawn White or Tony Hawk… or you know someone who knows someone who can get you sponsored; it’s a hard hustle. Since sponsorships are few and far between, Teammomndad will continue to step up and pay for our competition entry fees and gear. Let’s not forget them.

All new Team

Brandon Bennett here hoping you all had a great summer and are looking forward to a great winter of snowboarding. And you all have a reason to celebrate. After nearly two years, 100's of hours of work and countless starts and stops, the new company my brother and I started, Team MomNDad is up and running! That's right. Everyone knows we wouldn't be where we are without mom and dad. We would be hard pressed to participate in all that training, tournaments and fun weekends on the hills.
